Other residents needed Hundorf to quietly examine their own obsessions. Empty churches and expansive landscapes became safe spaces for telling contemporary tales of love and uprootedness. For them, the village became a "home" of the spirit and a catalyst for contemplation. And last but not least, there also were those who delved into its history and sang its past and mysteries.
This chronicle of a small Transylvanian village may seem irrelevant in the face of the contemporary forces and the relentless flux of information that captivate our daily attention. However, when looked at closely, patiently, it evokes universal traits. If from a single individual we can uncover all of humanity, then from the Hundorf of this past summer we can understand the challenges and dilemmas of a community, but also a country and a whole world at a new crossroads.
Hundorf nu e satul pastoral al amintirilor din copilărie, al tablourilor lui Grigorescu, satul neaoș, epicentru al românității în care natura și omul conviețuiesc în armonie.
Nu e nici satul caricatural din divertismentul contemporan populat de stereotipuri. Contrazicând aceste perspective clișeice, expoziția funcționează ca o recalibrare la real; ea propune o serie de incursiuni prin spiritul satului Hundorf, dezvăluind straturile reale și complexe care îl definesc. Combinând medii digitale cu tehnici tradiționale, sunet, instalații și performance, lucrările artiștilor compun portretul și harta unui spirit complicat și hăituit, dar în același timp viu și antifragil.
Examinând realități locale precum migrația, condiția femeilor de la țară, sincopele educației, disonanțele familiale, diversitatea etnică sau criza identității adolescenților, unii rezidenți au scos satul din abstracțiunea atemporală a ruralului și l-au făcut tangibil. Privindu-l prin ochii lor, distingem un spațiu conectat direct la sursele actualității; aici se muncește, distrează, suferă, iubește; aici se testează ad-hoc, în timp real, ipoteze și rezolvări ale valurilor vieții.
Hundorf is not the idyllic place of childhood memories, the picturesque village from Grigorescu's paintings, the epicenter of Romanian identity where people and nature coexist in harmony.
It is not the rural caricature from contemporary entertainment either. Contradicting these clichéd perspectives, the exhibition functions as a re-calibration to reality; it outlines a series of explorations through the spirit of Hundorf, revealing the real and complex layers that define it. Combining digital media with traditional techniques, sound, installation, and performance, the works compose a map and a portrait of a complicated and haunted spirit, but also a vibrant and anti-fragile one.
Examining local realities such as migration, the condition of women in rural areas, educational issues, familial complexities, ethnic diversity, or the identity crisis of adolescents, some residents have dislodged the village from its timeless abstraction and made it tangible. Seeing it through their eyes, we discern a space plugged straight into the sources of actuality; here, people work, have fun, suffer and love; here, they test in real-time the solutions to life's ebbs and flows.
Alți rezidenți au avut nevoie de Hundorf pentru a-și scormoni în liniște și pace prin propriile obsesii. Bisericile goale, peisajele întinse, natura plină de paie, au devenit safe space-ul mărturisirii unor povești contemporane despre dragoste și dezrădăcinare. Pentru ei, satul a devenit un ”acasă” al spiritului și un catalizator al contemplării. Și nu în ultimul rând, au fost cei care au scormonit prin istoria satului și i-au cântat trecutul și misterul.
Această cronică a unui mic sat transilvan ar putea părea irelevantă în fața desfășurărilor de forțe și de informații care ne acaparează zilnic atenția. Dar privită îndeaproape, cu răbdare, ea evocă trăsături universale. Așa cum din fiecare om putem descoperi și deduce umanitatea toată, la fel, din Hundorful acestei veri putem înțelege provocările și dilemele unor oameni și a unei comunități, dar în fond ale unei Românii și a unei lumi întregi la o nouă răspântie de drumuri.
